We had issues during Valentines week that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. We had robbers come into the house we are building and steal all of the electrical wiring out of the house. That was Sunday evening, the 12th. Lots of damage to the celing in our bedroom but the wires were cut so that a junction could be made and we could move on, a month delay. The evening of the 13th they came back and got all of the plumbing, and left us with smashed outlets and scratched hardwood floors and now we are looking at a 3 month delay, not to mention two deductibles with the insurance company. I was simply devastated. But, we picked ourselves up and we are moving on, we got a security system and feel like we have done all we can do to prevent it from happening again.  Our builder’s are sticking with us and will see it finished. Thank The Good Lord.

So, not a lot of fiber was spun or knitting to report on, since it has taken a lot of time getting our heads on straight again. But, I am still working on Wizard Island, and in the meantime, I got Wayfarer too:

Wayfarer - FCK SW Merino, Bamboo, Nylon

I made a little progress on the curtain, but now I am in “tink” mode, so no use showing that! So, I will leave you with this beautimous bouquet of flowers that our builders sent to me on Friday. They are really nice, nice men, and felt bad for me. . .

That rose was a pink/orange with red highlights. I have never seen such a beautiful arrangement!

I’ts been another crazy weekend, lots of road travel. . . the house is looking really good!

Our house. . .

Our house, Is a very, very, very fine house. . .

The inside is too, if your interested you can go look at the flicker page below . . .

And this is the new male in Caryn’s life:

Winston

She got him from the shelter at one of the PetSmarts in Lexington, and he is the friendliest kitty!! He can’t really seem to figure out the cat scratching post, by my two sure can:

Morris and Marlee

And, I’ve been working on a lace curtain for the new bathroom. . . not much to see yet, and the cotton had 3 knots in it, so I can’t recommend the type just yet. I am hoping it’s a fluke, and if not, I just might scream! It looks like this:

Beginnings. . .

Hopefully, soon, it will look like this one!

Well, the saga of the Deco Cardigan continues. I wrote a couple of people on Ravelry that had Madelinetosh Alpaca Sport in the Baltic color, and asked if they would consider selling me a skein. One person, just plain didn’t answer, the other, “justrunknit” was kind enough to offer any leftovers she may have from her Larch Cardigan she is making now. She even offered to consider making it short sleeved, which is really unreal to me! So, the sweater will wait until I have an answer one way or another.

The House:

Muck City . . . aka The House

As you can see, there was lots of work done this week, the porch was poured, siding was put up, we have kitchen countertops:

The counter tops are in!

there are plugs in the walls, sinks put in, oh joy! We may actually move in this year!! More photos on my Flickr pages – you can get there from the sidebar to the right -

My big five-oh birthday came and went without much ado, I did receive these from my sister:

Flowers for my birthday

Aren’t they beautiful? They were left on the step upside down, so, I am amazed at how well they came back to life!

And I have this leftover croc and tidal singles to do: I will be N-Plying those to see what they look like that way.

But, only after I get the curtain going that I am working on for the master bathroom. More on that next week!

I’ve been happily knitting away on my Deco cardigan. Although it has taken a back seat very often due to one obsessive cat, who will not leave the working yarn alone, (Marley likes to bite through it for some unknown reason) and the size, it has become unwieldy in carting it around. . .

So, it has taken until now that I am almost finished the first sleeve and still have another sleeve, and the neckband, and the button bands to do and only one skein of yarn left to make me stop and say. . . uh oh. I don’t think I have enough yarn. Shit. So, I think I will just go buy another skein and work the color difference in with the remaining skein I have. No Alpaca Sport to be found. Anywhere. Shit again. So, I order regular Sport in Baltic but look:

Tosh Sport - Baltic

(((((SIGH))))) That color is so far off, it will make stripes! Yikes, I don’t want stripes! So, A DISO request has been made on Ravelry, without a single response. . . so what’s a girl to do? Rip and start another sweater? I am just beside myself and lost in the mire and muck of this crap-ola! It really fits well, and it looks so nice. . .

It really fits well!

I thought maybe I could go down a size, and actually, I probably can do that. I’m just not sure I want to do that. WAH!

As you know, I was knitting a Christmas Stocking for my daughter’s boyfriend, Josh. They’ve been dating over 3 years, and seemed to be very much in love. It seems it was all too much for the boy to live up to, and he broke up with Caryn this past Thursday evening. He couldn’t see settling down with someone, when he hadn’t even been out with other girls, and that is what he wants to do. My daughter is devastated and we are trying to help her pick up the pieces and let her know that she is not the one to blame in this situation. Why do those with testosterone feel the need to spread it to as many females as they can? Can’t call him a man, as he is so obviously a spoiled little boy. Ok. Rant over.

I’v been spinning up Wizard Island, and loving every minute of it. This is a shot of the bobbin so far:

Wizard on Kirsten

I love that shot, I was sure the purple was showing up blue, so I had taken about 25 pictures, but this one is true, without a flash. I don’t know the wpi on this, but I am using the 0.9 pulley with the bobbin size of 2.1, I really need to learn how to put that into terms we can all understand. . . a lesson for next week!

I am also dragging Deco around to finish it up . . . I have a sleeve and a half to go, and fronts, with only 1 and a quarter skeins of yarn. Yeah. It’s going to be too close for comfort.

Deco Sleeve Almost Done

Have a good week, if you have a moment send a good vibe out for my daughter. Thanks.
